Footprints is a travel app where users share location-verified experiences. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights. By using the app, you confirm that you have read this policy.

1. Data controller

The data controller is Caner Yürekyakan (Ankara, Türkiye).

2. Data we collect

• Account data: Username, email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
• Content you share: The experiences you add (text, category, city, map point), photos, trips, routes and collections. Also your optional profile photo and bio, the people you follow, your "helpful" votes, your notifications and your content reports.
• Location: When you add an experience, your device's GPS position is sent to our server once to verify that you are near the selected city. These coordinates are used only for this check and are not stored. If you grant location permission, the app also uses your location on your device to center the map on where you are; this is not sent to our server. The map point of an experience you add (the center of the city you selected, not your location) is stored with the experience and is public.
• Photos: If you grant photo library access, you can upload only the photos you choose. Other images in your library are not sent to us.
• Push token (optional): If you enable notifications, a push token is stored to deliver them. It is removed when you sign out.
• Technical logs: For security and troubleshooting, we may keep server logs (for example, request time and IP address).

3. Data we do not collect

• No location history or background location tracking.
• No advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics or advertising tools.
• No contacts.

4. How we use your data

• To run the service: showing experiences, profiles, trips and notifications
• To verify that experiences come from people who were actually near the city. Experiences you mark as "I was there (past experience)" are not location-checked and are labeled as past experiences with the month and year you chose.
• To moderate content: usernames, bios and experiences are automatically filtered for abusive language and spam. Users can report experiences and block other users. Heavily reported content is hidden.
• To keep the service secure and to meet legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.

5. Public data

The experiences you add, their photos and map points, your username and your profile information are visible to everyone who uses the app. Do not add information or photos you do not want to share publicly. Your email address and password are never shown to others.

6. Translation

If you tap the translate badge on an experience, only the text of that experience is sent to a third-party translation service (MyMemory / Google Translate) to produce the translation. Your identity and location are not sent.

7. Third-party services

• Map: Satellite map imagery is loaded from Esri (ArcGIS) and the map library from unpkg. Like any web service, these receive your device's IP address when the map loads.
• Notifications: Notifications are delivered through Expo's push service and the Apple and Google push services, which receive your push token and the notification text.
• Hosting: Our servers and database are run by a hosting provider (Hostinger) in a data center in Malaysia.
• Backups: Copies of our database and uploaded photos are kept as nightly backups on our server and in a private Google Drive account owned by the data controller. They are kept for up to 30 days and are not used for any other purpose.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing. Apart from the providers above, we may disclose data only when legally required (a court or authority request), to protect the security of the service and our rights, or if the app is transferred.

Transfers abroad. Because our servers are located outside Türkiye (in Malaysia), your data is transferred to and stored outside Türkiye when you create an account and use the app. This transfer is necessary to provide the service. Notification and translation services may also process data on their servers abroad. By creating an account, you give your explicit consent to this transfer under Article 9 of Law No. 6698. You can withdraw your consent by deleting your account.

8. Retention and account deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account and all associated data: experiences, photos, trips, routes, profile, follows, votes and notifications.

If you can no longer access the app, email footprintsguide@gmail.com from your registered address and we will delete your account within 30 days. Limited server logs that the law requires us to keep may be retained for the legal period.

9. Your rights

Under Article 11 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK, Law No. 6698), you have the right to: learn whether your data is processed; request information if it is; learn the purpose of processing; ask for correction of inaccurate or incomplete data; ask for deletion or destruction under the conditions set by law; ask that these actions be notified to third parties that received your data; object to an outcome against you that results from automated analysis; and claim compensation for damage caused by unlawful processing.

Send requests to footprintsguide@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days at the latest.

10. Children and teens

Footprints can be used by people of any age. Users under 18 must use the app only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or legal guardian. If the person creating the account is under 18, we treat creating it as a statement that they have this permission.

• We do not ask children for more data than we ask of other users. We do not use children's data for advertising, sell it, or process it for profiling.
• Experiences and photos shared by children are public, like those of other users. We recommend that children do not share personal details, their face or private places.
• A parent or legal guardian can request access to, or deletion of, their child's account and data at footprintsguide@gmail.com. The account can also be deleted in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account).
• If we learn that data was collected without parental permission, we will delete the account and its data.

11. Security

We protect your data against unauthorized access, loss and misuse with reasonable technical and organizational measures. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. We will announce important changes in the app. The current version is always available on this page.

Footprints, kullanıcıların konumu doğrulanmış seyahat deneyimlerini paylaştığı bir uygulamadır. Bu politika hangi verileri topladığımızı, neden topladığımızı ve haklarınızı açıklar. Uygulamayı kullanarak bu politikayı okuduğunuzu kabul etmiş olursunuz.

2. Topladığımız veriler

• Hesap bilgileri: Kullanıcı adı, e-posta adresi ve güvenli biçimde şifrelenmiş (hash) parola. Parolanızı düz metin olarak saklamayız.
• Paylaştığınız içerikler: Eklediğiniz deneyimler (metin, kategori, şehir, haritadaki nokta), fotoğraflar, geziler, rotalar ve koleksiyonlar. Ayrıca profil fotoğrafı ve kısa tanıtım yazısı (isteğe bağlı), takip ettikleriniz, "faydalı" oyları, bildirimleriniz ve içerik bildirimleriniz.
• Konum: Deneyim eklerken cihazınızın GPS konumu, seçtiğiniz şehre yakın olduğunuzu doğrulamak için sunucumuza bir kez gönderilir. Bu koordinatlar yalnızca bu kontrol için kullanılır ve saklanmaz. Konum iznini verirseniz uygulama, haritayı bulunduğunuz yere ortalamak için konumunuzu yalnızca cihazınızda kullanır; sunucuya gönderilmez. Eklediğiniz deneyimin haritadaki noktası ise (seçtiğiniz şehrin merkezi; konumunuz değil) deneyimle birlikte saklanır ve herkese açıktır.
• Fotoğraflar: Galeri izni verirseniz yalnızca kendi seçtiğiniz fotoğrafları yükleyebilirsiniz. Galerinizdeki diğer görseller bize aktarılmaz.
• Bildirim anahtarı (isteğe bağlı): Bildirimleri açarsanız cihaza bildirim göndermek için bir anahtar (push token) saklanır. Oturumu kapattığınızda silinir.
• Teknik kayıtlar: Güvenlik ve hata ayıklama için sunucu kayıtları (ör. istek zamanı, IP adresi) tutulabilir.

3. Toplamadığımız veriler

• Konum geçmişi veya arka planda konum takibi yok.
• Reklam kimliği, üçüncü taraf analitik veya reklam aracı yok.
• Rehber (kişiler) bilgisi yok.

4. Verileri nasıl kullanırız

• Hizmeti sunmak: deneyimleri, profilleri, gezileri ve bildirimleri göstermek
• Deneyimlerin gerçekten şehre yakın kişilerden geldiğini doğrulamak. "I was there (past experience)" olarak işaretlediğiniz deneyimlerde konum kontrolü yapılmaz; bunlar seçtiğiniz ay ve yılla "Past experience" olarak etiketlenir.
• İçeriği denetlemek: kullanıcı adı, tanıtım yazısı ve deneyimler küfür ve spam için otomatik taranır. Kullanıcılar deneyimleri bildirebilir ve diğer kullanıcıları engelleyebilir. Çok sayıda bildirim alan içerik gizlenir.
• Güvenliği sağlamak ve yasal yükümlülükleri yerine getirmek

Verilerinizi reklam için kullanmıyor ve satmıyoruz.

5. Herkese açık veriler

Eklediğiniz deneyimler, fotoğraflar, haritadaki noktaları, kullanıcı adınız ve profil bilgileriniz uygulamayı kullanan herkes tarafından görülebilir. Herkese açık olmasını istemediğiniz bilgi ve fotoğrafları eklemeyin. E-posta adresiniz ve parolanız başkalarına gösterilmez.

6. Çeviri

Bir deneyimdeki çeviri simgesine dokunursanız yalnızca o deneyimin metni, çeviri üretmek için üçüncü taraf bir çeviri servisine (MyMemory / Google Translate) gönderilir. Kimliğiniz veya konumunuz gönderilmez.

7. Üçüncü taraf hizmetler

• Harita: Uydu harita görselleri Esri (ArcGIS) üzerinden, harita kütüphanesi unpkg üzerinden yüklenir. Bu hizmetler, her web hizmeti gibi harita yüklenirken cihazınızın IP adresini görür.
• Bildirimler: Bildirimler Expo'nun bildirim hizmeti ile Apple ve Google bildirim hizmetleri üzerinden iletilir. Bu hizmetler bildirim anahtarınızı ve bildirim metnini alır.
• Barındırma: Sunucularımız ve veritabanımız, Malezya'daki veri merkezinde bulunan bir barındırma sağlayıcısı (Hostinger) tarafından işletilir.
• Yedekler: Veritabanımızın ve yüklenen fotoğrafların gecelik yedekleri sunucumuzda ve veri sorumlusuna ait özel bir Google Drive hesabında saklanır. En fazla 30 gün tutulur ve başka bir amaçla kullanılmaz.

Kişisel verilerinizi satmayız ve pazarlama için paylaşmayız. Yukarıdaki hizmet sağlayıcılar dışında verilerinizi yalnızca yasal zorunluluk (mahkeme veya yetkili kurum talebi), hizmetin güvenliğinin ve haklarımızın korunması ya da uygulamanın devri hâllerinde aktarabiliriz.

Yurt dışına aktarım. Sunucularımız Türkiye dışında (Malezya) bulunduğundan, hesap oluşturduğunuzda ve uygulamayı kullandığınızda verileriniz Türkiye dışına aktarılır ve orada saklanır. Bu aktarım hizmetin sunulması için gereklidir. Bildirim ve çeviri hizmetleri de verileri yurt dışındaki sunucularında işleyebilir. Hesap oluşturarak, 6698 sayılı Kanun'un 9. maddesi kapsamında bu aktarıma açık rıza verdiğinizi kabul edersiniz. Rızanızı hesabınızı silerek geri çekebilirsiniz.

8. Saklama ve hesap silme

Verileriniz hesabınız aktif olduğu sürece saklanır. Hesabınızı uygulamadan istediğiniz zaman silebilirsiniz: Profil → Settings → Delete Account. Bu işlem hesabınızı ve bağlı tüm verilerinizi (deneyimler, fotoğraflar, geziler, rotalar, profil, takipler, oylar ve bildirimler) hemen ve kalıcı olarak siler.

Uygulamaya erişemiyorsanız kayıtlı e-posta adresinizden footprintsguide@gmail.com adresine yazın. Hesabınızı en geç 30 gün içinde sileriz. Yasal yükümlülük gerektiren sınırlı sunucu kayıtları yasal süre boyunca saklanabilir.

9. Haklarınız

6698 sayılı Kişisel Verilerin Korunması Kanunu (KVKK) madde 11 uyarınca şu haklara sahipsiniz: verilerinizin işlenip işlenmediğini öğrenme, işlenmişse bilgi talep etme, işlenme amacını öğrenme, yanlış veya eksik verilerin düzeltilmesini isteme, kanunda öngörülen şartlarla silinmesini veya yok edilmesini isteme, bu işlemlerin aktarılan üçüncü kişilere bildirilmesini isteme, otomatik analiz sonucu aleyhinize çıkan sonuca itiraz etme ve kanuna aykırı işleme nedeniyle zararınızın giderilmesini talep etme.

Başvurularınızı footprintsguide@gmail.com adresine iletebilirsiniz. En geç 30 gün içinde yanıtlarız.

10. Çocuklar ve gençler

Footprints'i her yaştan kullanıcı kullanabilir. 18 yaşından küçükler, uygulamayı ancak ebeveynlerinin veya yasal vasilerinin bilgisi ve izniyle kullanmalıdır. Hesabı oluşturan kişinin, 18 yaşından küçükse bu izne sahip olduğunu beyan ettiğini kabul ederiz.

• Çocuklardan, diğer kullanıcılardan istediğimizden fazla veri istemeyiz. Çocukların verilerini reklam için kullanmaz, satmaz ve profil çıkarmak için işlemeyiz.
• Çocuk kullanıcıların paylaştığı deneyimler ve fotoğraflar, diğer kullanıcılar gibi herkese açıktır. Çocukların kişisel bilgilerini, yüzlerini veya özel yerlerini paylaşmamasını öneririz.
• Ebeveyn veya yasal vasi, çocuğuna ait hesabın ve verilerin silinmesini veya verilere erişimi footprintsguide@gmail.com adresinden talep edebilir. Hesap, uygulamadan da silinebilir (Profil → Settings → Delete Account).
• Ebeveyn izni olmadan veri toplandığını fark edersek ilgili hesabı ve verileri sileriz.

11. Güvenlik

Verilerinizi yetkisiz erişime, kayba ve kötüye kullanıma karşı makul teknik ve idari önlemlerle koruruz. İnternet üzerinden hiçbir iletim yönteminin tamamen güvenli olmadığını hatırlatırız.

12. Değişiklikler

Bu politikayı güncelleyebiliriz. Önemli değişiklikleri uygulama içinde duyururuz. Güncel sürüm bu sayfada yer alır.
